PRIME MINISTER OF GEORGIA MEETS NDI SHORT-TERM ELECTION OBSERVATION DELEGATION

Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia met with a National Democratic Institute (NDI) short-term election observation delegation today.

Discussion was related to the second round of Presidential Elections of Georgia scheduled for November 28, 2018 and pre-election environment witnessed in the country.

As noted by the Head of Government of Georgia at the meeting, highest standards of democracy have been practiced at every election held in the country since 2012 under the governance of the Georgian Dream (GD). Second round of Presidential Elections will also be held in a fair, free and transparent environment.

Discussion was also related to the avoidance of potential use of administrative resources. Prime Minister of Georgia shared information with the observers about the Government Decree issued prior to the second round to ban the use of administrative resources in the pre-election period.

Role of law-enforcement bodies was underlined at the meeting to ensure the public order at ballot points throughout the country, which will respond most efficiently to any potential offence or violation of the law if and when actually required.

Meeting of the Prime Minsiter of Georgia with the NDI short-term election observation delegation was attended by Kakha Kakhishvili, Head of Government Administration of Georgia.
