WEF PRESIDENT WELCOMES HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT IN GEORGIA

President of the World Economic Forum (WEF) focused on the potential of Georgia in getting established as a regional hub and welcomed steps made by authorities towards greater development of human capital in the country. It was stated by Børge Brende, President of WEF at a meeting with Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia in New York today.

Focus was made on the significance of integration of Georgia into the global economy and achievements of the country in facilitating the start-up businesses.

It was noted that Georgia turned into a significant, strong economic power in the region which leads to a greater resilience towards external economic shocks.

Attention was made on the leading rankings of the country in international ratings, especially the most recently released index of the Fraser Institute, according to which Georgia is positioned 6th by economic freedom. It was clearly noted that country ranks 9th by ease of doing business and low tax burden.

Discussions were also related to the role of the World Economic Forum and its Annual Meetings in Davos, as a significant platform for engaging business and political leaders in a dialogue leading to new dimensions of cooperation.
