"Saguramo Hess" was included in the unified power grid of Georgia. Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili attended the opening ceremony of the new hydroelectric plant.

The head of the Government congratulated "Georgian Water and Power" (the GWP) on implementation of the year's one of the most important projects and hoped that the ecologically clean, so called green power plant will promote stable water supply to Tbilisi. According to the Prime Minister, construction of ecologically friendly power plants is a significant step towards attainment of the energy independence of the country.

"Construction of such type of power plants - ecologically clean power plants, is crucial in terms of achieving our country's energy independence and swift development of our economy. It is also important that respective power plant meets the highest standards of so called "green power plants" and modern technologies has been applied in the construction process. Company has invested over 11 million GEL for the purpose of its construction. It is noteworthy that the new power plant enables uninterrupted power supply to the head buildings and pumping stations of the GWP. This implies that stable water supply to Tbilisi will be guaranteed. It is also noteworthy that the device will have an equal work capacity throughout the year. Furthermore, it will be possible to process the clean water previously utilized by the power plant for the purpose of its further usage for the water supply of Tbilisi. The Georgian Water and Power employed over 100 people to implement this project. Furthermore, it is a welcoming fact that the company recruits young hydro energy specialists and engineers, for whom such vote of confidence is truly motivating fact and hence, this is a very wise step. I believe that young specialists will live up to the expectations and they will contribute to development of the field and progress of our economy. This project represents yet another example of successful cooperation with the European specialists," - Giorgi Kvirikashvili noted in his speech.

Prime Minister expressed hope that alongside with creating attractive investment environment, "Saguramo Hess" will serve as an additional impetus for potential investors to undertake more investment business projects in Georgia.

Georgian Water and Power has allocated over 11 million GEL for the purpose of constructing so called green power plant in line with the highest standards and modern technologies. The aggregate will have an equal work capacity throughout the year and it will be possible to process the clean water previously utilized by the power plant for the purpose of its further usage for the water supply of Tbilisi.

Installed capacity of the aggregate is around 5 MW and an average annual output is 32 million KW per hour. The leader in the field of production of hydro aggregates - Austrian ANDRITZ HYDRO SAS manufactured turbine-generator and auxiliary equipment of the "Saguramo Hess".
The GWP launched construction of "Saguramo Hess" in December of 2015. The company employed over 100 people to implement the project.
