The Report on the Activities of Solidarity Fund and priorities for 2016

From the day of establishment till today, the Solidarity Fund has provided resources in an amount of 7.9 million GEL to cover the healthcare costs of 215 children and adolescents - head of Solidarity Fund Mariam Jashi presented implemented activities and priorities for 2016 at the session of Supervisory Board of the Fund. The session was conducted under the chairmanship of Giorgi Kvirikashvili at the Administration of the Government of Georgia.
During the session, it was noted that as of today, the Fund has been joined by more than 55 000 civil servants, 24 private companies and 53 student organizations.
As a result, from July 2014 till now, 5.7 million GEL have been mobilized. In this regard, contribution of private sector, particularly, banks was emphasized.
The chair of Supervisory Board of the Fund - Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili thanked the Fund and its donors.
"This is a very successful project and we have grounds to believe in even better future of the fund. I am convinced that via joint efforts we will be able to draw even more funds, improve private and public cooperation and finance medical treatment of even more children," - Giorgi Kvirikashvili noted.
Alongside with results achieved in terms of pediatric oncology, Mariam Jashi put particular emphasis on the important role of Solidarity Fund in the global dialogue concerning innovative financing, in particular, prospective cooperation with UN and Paris secretaries.
The fifth session of the Supervisory Board of the Fund was attended by Minister of Healthcare and Social Protection Davit Sergeenko, Minister of Finance Nodar Khaduri, deputy Head of the Administration of the Government Nino Kobakhidze, Mayor of Tbilisi David Narmania, president of the Association of Banks Zurab Gvasalia, representatives of banking sector, UN Resident Representative to Georgia Niels Scott and Attaché for Development Cooperation of the Embassy of the Czech Republic Mr. Albert Sido.
