The Government of Georgia is providing IT and maritime companies with the opportunity to obtain the status of an international company and take advantage of tax benefits

2020-10-09

The Government of Georgia is providing companies with the opportunity to obtain the status of an international company, while creating a comfortable platform for international companies to operate in Georgia.

The benefits will primarily apply to maritime and IT companies as logistics and transportation is one of the most important sectors for our economy.

Tax benefits:
Income from employment at an international company is taxed at 5 percent;
Dividends issued by an international company are not taxable at source and are not included in the gross income of the person receiving the dividend;
The profit tax rate for international companies stands at 5 percent;

International companies are exempt from property tax (with the exception of land tax) if said property is used for the purpose of carrying out activities permitted by ordinance of the Government of Georgia or is intended for the purpose of carrying out such activities.

The tax benefits will provide local companies with an incentive to develop and expand which, in turn, will help create new, high-paying jobs.

An opportunity is being created for major international companies to take an interest in operating in Georgia, and for the country to compete with other major global financial hubs in terms of both legislative and taxation frameworks.
