The Government Decrees the Establishment of the Commission on gender Equality, Violence against Women and Domestic Violence
2017-06-08 At the decision of the Government, the Charter of the Inter-agency Commission on gender Equality, Violence against Women and Domestic Violence has been approved. Lately, a number of steps have been taken to create/strengthen gender equality institutional mechanisms in the executive. Georgia has also ratified the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence (so-called Istanbul Convention), article 10 of which obligates signatory states to appoint or establish one or more official bodies responsible for the co-ordination, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of policies and measures to prevent and combat all forms of violence covered by the convention.
