Working Visit of the Prime Minister of Georgia in the Republic of Azerbaijan

On April 4, 2007 the working visit of the Prime Minister of Georgia Zurab Noghaideli was held in the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Within the framework of the visit the Prime Minister met the President of Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliev and Prime Minister Artur Rasi-Zade. The top issues of the meetings were the transport and Georgia-Azerbaijan cooperation in the energy sphere. To the words of Zurab Noghaideli, the parties have agreed to hold negotiations on gas supply to Georgia for the next year in the end of May. As to electricity the parties has executed the agreement under which beginning from the early May Georgia will turn to the regime of export of electricity to Azerbaijan. From May until the end of September Georgia will export 300-350 million kW of energy and for the first time during the last year Georgia will be electricity exporter-country.

Zurab Noghaideli also took part in the three-party meeting of prime ministers of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Kazakhstan. The main goal of the meeting was to provide the operation of the South Caucasian corridor for transportation of oil products and other cargos. "Our objective is to make the South Caucasian transport corridor the shortest and most affordable way for any transportation and we will take all necessary measures for this in the nearest future", - stated Zurab Noghaideli.
