Every institution is engaged in command- and staff-level exercises Didgori 2021, something poised to contribute to the management of any crisis and to boost interagency coordination, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili stated at the Krtsanisi Combined Arms Center where he, together with Defense Minister Juansher Burchuladze, familiarized himself with the Didgori 2021 interagency exercises today.

According to the Head of Government, interagency coordination requires more drills and trainings, and the facilitation of these successful exercised is commendable.

"We just attended command- and staff-level exercises Didgori 2021, a truly unique undertaking in that, this year, field exercises are also included, among others. Importantly, every institution is engaged in command- and staff-level exercises Didgori 2021, something poised to boost interagency coordination in general and to contribute to the management of any crisis. As you know, coordination as such requires more drills and trainings, and I welcome this year's successful exercises," Irakli Garibashvili said.

Chief of the Defense Forces Giorgi Matiashvili awarded Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili with a Didgori 2021 nameplate for his exceptional contribution and support in planning and implementing the exercises.

The Defense Forces are holding the Didgori 2021 interagency exercises designed to ensure deeper coordination and better interoperability between governmental institutions in times of crisis and war. On the Georgian Prime Minister's order, the planning and implementation of the exercises is led by the Defense Forces.

Compared to previous drills, this year's exercises Didgori 2021 are larger in scope and significance in that they, besides the staff component, also incorporate field operation elements. Alongside the Defense Forces, the participants of the field exercises include the units of the Interior Ministry's Special Tasks Department, the Strategic Pipelines Protection Department, and the Border Police.

Didgori 2021 brings together strategic- and operation-level representatives of all state institutions, including the President's Parliamentary Secretary and the President's Defense and Security Advisor.

The scenario of the exercises encompasses national-level crisis situations. Based on this scenario, simulation crises will be escalated to turn into full-fledged military action. Crisis de-escalation will conclude the exercises. The command component of the exercises takes place in 2 location: the Krtsanisi Combined Arms Center and the 2nd Infantry Brigade in Senaki. The exercises opened on November 8, officially to conclude on November 12, marking the 8th session under the Didgori cycle of command and staff exercises.
