Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia visited a nunnery named after Saint Pantaleon the Healer in Abastumani today.

The Head of Government of Georgia prayed together with Bishop Teodore, Metropolitan of Akhaltsikhe and Tao Klarjeti, along with Hegumene Barbare.

The Nunnery named after Saint Pantaleon the Healer has been operational since 1997. Substantial part of the nunnery got burned as a result of the fire in 2008. Both floors got burned. In August 2018, restoration process started at the nunnery with an initiative and financial support of Bidzina Ivanishvili. Original building has been fully recovered. Roof, floor and iconostasis of the church named after Saint Pantaleon has been replaced altogether. Rehabilitation is still progressing at the nunnery.

In parallel with the restoration, one more church is being constructed at the premises of the nunnery with financial support of Bidzina Ivanishvili and it will be dedicated to the Transfiguration of Jesus.

The Head of Government of Georgia visited the nunnery together with Kakha Kuchava, Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia and fellow cabinet members.
