Inter-Agency Coordination Council Rules to Make Uniform Wearing of Face Masks Mandatory Outdoors When 5 or More People Gather. Enforcement of Imposed Regulations is Getting Tighter Print Version

By considering the deteriorating epidemic situation in the country, the Inter-Agency Coordination Council led by Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia held a meeting today at the Government Administration to decide on the reintroduction of certain restrictive measures.

As commonly known, uniform wearing of facemasks is mandatory indoors, public transport and outdoors at places of public gathering, bus stops, fairs and markets, etc. Council has ruled to reintroduce the uniform wearing of facemask outdoors if 5 or more people gather.

In addition, operation of night clubs remains banned both indoors and outdoors. Enforcement of the imposed regulations is getting tighter. Eateries will remain closed from 00:00 to 05:00 and enforcement of this restrictive measure will be tightly controlled by relevant institutions.

In addition, as also commonly known, Government Decree prohibits holding such social events, as wedding parties, funeral dinners and jubilees of various types. Eateries will be financially sanctioned with 10 000 GEL for the first violation of the regulation if they decide to host such events, while they will be sealed if found in breach of the regulation for the second time.

At the same time, the Council has discussed the matter and decided to enforce the same regulation on individuals, who have been infected with COVID-19 and vaccinated with the first dose as applicable to cases when individuals are vaccinated with 2 doses upon crossing the border.

Since the first detection, 450 149 lab-proven cases of COVID infection have been witnessed in the country, out of which 403 762 individuals have recovered and 6 128 - died.

Currently, 42 individuals are kept in quarantine, 2 552 - at clinical hotels and 6 641 - at healthcare facilities under medical care.

Inter-Agency Coordination Council led by the Prime Minister of Georgia, actively engages the Parliament of Georgia chaired by MP Kakha Kuchava and Administration of the President of Georgia.
