Assessment of the impact caused by COVID-19 on the economy of the country, process of economic recovery in the post-pandemic period, attraction of foreign direct investments (FDI) were among the topics of discussion at the 15th Meeting of the Investors Council held and led by Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia in the format of a video conference today.

The Head of Government of Georgia launched the meeting, while H.E. Mark Clayton, Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary of the United Kingdom to Georgia greeted members of the Investors Council with welcoming remarks along with Catarina Bjorlin Hansen, Regional Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

Focus of the meeting was on the improvement of the investment climate in the country, specific steps made towards this end and plans for the future. Process of economic recovery in the post-pandemic period was discussed as well. Members of the Investors Council reviewed the impact of COVID-19 on the economy and discussed short- to medium-term measures for the attraction of the FDI to Georgia.

Vazil Hudák, Special Adviser to the Prime Minister of Georgia on matters related to FDI participated in the meeting for the first time. He noted that active work will continue towards this end.

Business Associations of Georgia and officials from international financial institutions (IFIs) participated in the 15th Meeting of the Investors Council today.
