"Timely response of our team, the professionalism of Georgian doctors and epidemiologists, outstanding civil responsibility of our citizens have enabled us to deal with the virus in the spring - at the beginning of the pandemic - and during the second wave" states Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia.

According to the Head of Government of Georgia, struggle is still progressing and it is inadmissible to relax, although the current situation gives grounds for optimism,

"One year has passed since the first case of a novel Coronavirus was detected in Georgia. The whole world has been living in a completely different, difficult mode throughout this year. Countries with the strongest economies in the world have been hit hardest. Georgia was no exception. The pandemic affected everyone and everything.

For years we have been in this war with an invisible enemy. Timely response of our team, professionalism of Georgian doctors and epidemiologists, outstanding civil responsibility of our citizens enabled us to deal with the virus both in the spring - at the beginning of the pandemic - and during the second wave. There were very serious challenges and we had to switch to the management mode in view of the pandemic in rather a short time. It should be acknowledged that we responded to these challenges effectively.

It is true that vaccine shortages around the world have made it difficult for our population to get vaccinated, but trust me, our Government, each agency is doing its best to get the country supplied with the first doses as soon as possible.

Although the current situation really gives grounds for optimism and we have eased most of the regulations, the struggle is still going on. We are learning to coexist with the virus. I believe that our society understands pretty well that it is inadmissible to distract attention and ignore the imposed recommendations.

I am confident that with joint efforts we will be able to finally overcome this challenge" states the Prime Minister of Georgia.
