Today, Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia-accompanied by President of the Football Federation Levan Kobiashvili, Zugdidi Majoritarian MP Irakli Chikovani, and Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti State Representative Malkhaz Toria-visited the Samegrelo Academy of the Football Federation.

The Head of Government, in a conversation with footballers at the stadium, emphasized the importance of sports and a healthy lifestyle.

Under the project, the academy now features one natural and two artificial turf stadiums, a lighting system, spectator seats, a residential building for 50 persons where a gym, locker rooms, a cafeteria, a laundry facility, and units for referees and doctors have also been built.

The academy plans to admit almost 40 footballers this coming academic year, Alongside the teams of the Football Federation of Georgia, this football infrastructure will be enjoyed by local football schools and amateur and women's teams.

The construction of the Football Academy in the village of Rukhi, near the occupation line, started in May of 2019, eventually implemented with financial support from the Football Federation of Georgia, FIFA FORWARD Program, and EUFA HatTrick Program, with a total of almost 6,000,000 GEL spent on the academy's construction.
The Rukhi Academy is financed by the Football Federation of Georgia. Consequently, young footballers will reside here, and receive football training and general education, free of charge.

Similar football academies already operate in Lanchkhuti Municipality, and in Lagodekhi and Rustavi. The Kutaisi Football Academy is under construction.
