Regional Policy and Coordination Service at the Government Administration will be managed by Konstantine Ananiashvili. He was presented to Governors by Giorgi Gakharia, Prime Minister of Georgia today.

The Head of Government of Georgia noted that Konstantine Ananiashvili will coordinate effective interaction of the Government with regions and State Representatives.

"Corps of Governors will have a new Head and his name is Kote Ananiashvili. His main duty will be the management of the corps, intensified coordination between local and central authorities. Kote will bear responsibility for this. Your main fulcrum in the context of routine governance will be Kote. We will also have meetings - initially once a week - similar to how the Executive Government Meetings are held, in this particular case - with a sole engagement of Governors" noted the Prime Minister of Georgia.

Konstantine Ananiashvili was a Director of the Police Department in Adjara and later served at various positions of the Ministry of Interior since 2005. In 2013-2016 he was managing the First Unit of Old Tbilisi Division within the Main Department of Tbilisi under the Ministry of Interior, later promoted to the position of the Deputy Division Chief and then Division Chief. From 2016 to August 2018 he was Director of Shida Kartli Police Department under the Ministry of Interior.

In the opinion of the Head of Government of Georgia, the main duty of the newly appointed official is to effectively coordinate between local and central authorities. Decisions taken today will make this coordination further more effective.

"It is most important, especially today, when the country is fighting with the global pandemic and economic crisis. I wish to underline that duty and effective work of local authorities, governors and our citizens have a tremendous importance in the successful completion of this fight. Current epidemic situation allows us to gradually ease the COVID restrictions, though even if the community transfer rate increases, we should have a capacity to manage the virus spread inter alia within regions and when a sound epidemic situation is witnessed in Adjara, Kakheti or elsewhere and slightly more complicated position in any other region, it should not mean that the country should close altogether. It is utterly important for the economic recovery of the country to start as early and effectively as possible" noted the Prime Minister of Georgia.

In the assessment of the Head of Government of Georgia, the second and significant part is the economic recovery, thus making the main goal of easing to be a readiness of the country for a comprehensive vaccination in the nearest future.

Giorgi Gakharia noted that regional governance has a tremendous importance towards this end. Respective logistical and other issues locally should be fully controlled by State Representatives.

"Technologically there are different types of vaccines. They all require different temperature regimes and many other components intact, including logistics, time management and other. All of that needs to be controlled in full locally by you. I wish to once again tell you that when the entire world is preparing for an exit from this global pandemic and consequential world-wide economic crisis, we all need to understand that effective and efficient work of every civil servant is of utmost importance to let Georgia occupy its due place in the global competition and emerge as a winner in this fight. Your performance will be of great significance here" stated the Prime Minister of Georgia at a meeting with Governors.
