Inter-Agency Coordination Council Rules to Let Restaurants Operate Till 22:00 in the Municipality of Mtskheta Also, While Mandatory Quarantine Rules are Changing for the Citizens of Georgia from October 21 Print Version

Similar to Tbilisi and Imereti region, restaurants will operate till 22:00 in the Municipality of Mtskheta as well. Also, if citizens of Georgia present negative PCR test results upon their entry to the country, they will be subject to self-isolation instead of the mandatory quarantine. If and when they will have no test results, placement in the quarantine spaces will still be possible. It was decided by the Inter-Agency Coordination Council at the meeting held and led by Giorgi Gakharia, Prime Minister of Georgia at the Government Administration today.

It was mentioned at the meeting that these restrictions became necessary in the Municipality of Mtskheta as people moved to dine in Mtskheta after the restaurants closed in the capital city of the country at 22:00.

The Inter-Agency Coordination Council once again urges the citizens of the country to comply with the established rules and wear facemasks, practice social distancing and keep away from gathering at unnecessary events.

Situation at healthcare facilities was also discussed at the Inter-Agency Coordination Council Meeting today. It was mentioned that as of today at least 4 000 beds are mobilized. The Ministry of Health was instructed to work more actively to mobilize additional hospital beds to make sure that about 800-1000 vacant places are made readily available at hospitals.

It was mentioned that the country has sufficient resources in terms of medical doctors and hospital beds. Nevertheless, resources are not unlimited. That is why, it is important to consolidate the state, organizations and citizens to continue with a successful management of the process.

It was stressed at the Council Meeting that a new model of clinical management enables for the sufficient number of hospital beds to be available in the case of need as light and asymptomatic patients will continue medical treatment at home or at so called COVID Hotels on the grounds of consultations rendered by healthcare professionals. Acute patients will continue being treated at hospitals.

The Inter-Agency Coordination Council considered certain faults identified in the primary healthcare, along with measures carried out to address them on time. It was noted that these faults are not systemic by nature and immediate response will be made on individual cases.

The Inter-Agency Coordination Council discussed the cases of viral infection at classrooms and auditoriums. According to the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Georgia, decisions are efficiently made on each individual case and on the grounds of consultations obtained from epidemiologists. At the same time and by the decision of the Inter-Agency Coordination Council, as some polling stations are organized at school buildings, distance learning will be temporarily practiced on October 28, 29 and 30 as preparatory works will be carried out for the elections at the indicated school premises.

In line with a decision made at the Inter-Agency Coordination Council Meeting today, air companies will be able to gradually resume regular flights to Amsterdam, Vienna, Warsaw, Athens, Vilnius, Dortmund, Katowice and Milan from November 2020, while the current flights to Munich, Paris and Riga will be performed with greater frequency. It was noted at the Inter-Agency Coordination Council Meeting that this attitude of gradual resumption of flights will be maintained by considering the existing epidemic trends and economic interests.

As of today, 19 857 cases of COVID infection are confirmed with lab tests in Georgia, out of which 8 666 individuals have recovered. 41 citizens of Georgia have been transported for medical treatment to Georgia. 158 individuals have died.

At present 6 407 individuals are placed in quarantine, 1 420 of them at COVID Hotels, while 2 862 - are under a medical surveillance at various healthcare facilities of the country.

The Inter-Agency Coordination Council led by the Prime Minister of Georgia actively engages the Parliament of Georgia chaired by Archil Talakvadze and Administration of the President of Georgia.
