Giorgi Gakharia, Prime Minister of Georgia and Dr. Sabine Machl, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Georgia signed a UN-Georgia Cooperation Framework of Sustainable Development for 2021-2025 today.

The Prime Minister of Georgia expressed his gratitude to the UN Resident Coordinator in Georgia for the efforts made in the country and underlined that the framework document will further deepen cooperation between the parties in future.

As noted by the Head of Government of Georgia, the framework document reflects priorities and challenges of the country, along with needs of the local population and ways of curbing the crisis caused by the pandemic.

As noted by the UN Resident Coordinator in Georgia, the United Nations looks forward to a continued cooperation with Georgia, especially in the key priority areas that envisage social equality, human capabilities and human development.

"Implementation of the new Cooperation Framework will start from January 1, 2021. It is very important for us. We want to continue our work with Georgia" noted Dr. Sabine Machl, United Nations Resident Coordinator.

Framework document defines strategic directions of cooperation between the parties for the following five years and it is in full compliance with the Sustainable Development Agenda defined for a timeline through 2030.

Document includes five topics: effective, transparent and accountable institutions; equal and inclusive access to quality services; inclusive economy and human capital development; individual security; environment and climate change.

Public institutions, international partners, private sector and civil society representatives were engaged in the development of the UN-Georgia Cooperation Framework of Sustainable Development for 2021-2025.
