Batumi International Airport is expanding as Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia, together with Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava and Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara Tornike Rizhvadze, attended today's ceremony marking the beginning of construction for a new terminal.

According to the Head of Government, the empowerment of another international airport in the country will prove impactful for the economy and competitiveness in attracting tourists in the post-pandemic period.

Construction work will be completed in February of 2021. After expansion, Batumi International Airport will serve 1,200,000 passengers a year.

TOV Georgia is investing 14 million USD in the implementation of the project.
