An enormous tragedy took place on June 13, 2015 in Tbilisi, Georgia. Firstly, I extend my sympathy to our citizens who lost their family members, Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia told the press after having laid a wreath at the June 13 Memorial.

The Head of Government emphasized that, though an enormous tragedy, the events of five years back-June 13, 2015-also mark a day of great unity and solidarity.

"It was a day of enormous solidarity and mutual care, with youth exhibiting a great deal of strength and energy-a day of solidarity, unanimity, and mutual care. They exhibited a great deal of civic responsibility. Today, we are once again facing serious challenges. The epidemic is a crisis requiring from us the same level of solidarity, mutual care, and civic responsibility. Of course, we should always remember those who have passed away, and we should never forget the heroism of our youth. That is how successful states are built, and that is how successful and great generations are formed. And I hope that the same youth will soon engage directly in the creation of Georgia's new reality," the Prime Minister said.

The Head of Government visited the June 13 Memorial in the company of the Tbilisi Mayor, Chairman of the Assembly, and representatives of the capital's self-government. Clerics conducted a memorial service for the repose of the souls of those departed on June 13.
