The Government of Georgia is planning to carry out the systemic registration of a total of 1.2 million hectares of land within the next three years. The steps to be taken to achieve this goal were discussed at the working meeting, which was held at the Administration of the Government under the leadership of Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Gakharia.
As Justice Minister Tea Tsulukiani noted during the meeting, the eight-month systemic land registration project, which will be launched in the summer, will be initially implemented in several mountainous regions. From the beginning of next year, the project will be expanded to include all regions of Georgia.
Over the next three years, the implementation of the systemic land registration project is planned in dozens of villages across the country, which means that during this period, the geographic area of the country must be fully covered by the cadaster.
The reform that has been implemented since 2016 was also assessed during the meeting. It was stressed that while one million hectares of land have been registered in the country in total from the restoration of independence until 2016, a remarkably similar area of land was registered from 2016 until today.
According to the members of government, the aforementioned figures indicate that the reform was a success, and there exists a readiness to take even faster steps to ensure that the systemic registration of land brings similarly positive results.
