Giorgi Gakharia, Prime Minister of Georgia expresses gratitude to medical doctors and healthcare professionals for their dedicated efforts in the fight against the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Head of Government of Georgia visited the Infectious Disease Hospital together with a Minister of Health today. Medical doctors had an opportunity to share information about the steps made in the fight against COVID-19 and health condition of the patients.

Prime Minister of Georgia noted that more difficult challenges are ahead and highest hopes of all rest on the professionalism of doctors.

According to him, a special Clinical Management Team has been created. It functions under the management of Tengiz Tsertsvadze, Director of the Infectious Disease Hospital. As the Prime Minister of Georgia noted, Tengiz Tsertsvadze will be responsible for leading the process of medical treatment.

"Thank you for the civil heroism demonstrated every single day. Of course, it is your personal merit that we are progressing quite so reasonably against the COVID-19. I understand that difficult challenges are ahead of us and we rest our hopes on you there as well. Whatever depends on us, we will do our best. We are well aware of the problems as well. Starting from the physical infrastructure and other recurrent issues, will be dealt with efficiently. Now the main task is to combat this virus and I wonder what is your professional idea on tackling the challenge with minimum damage to human health, economy and country - as it is very important to us. Whatever is happening now in Europe will be hard for a rather fragile economy like us to overcome if encountered with similar consequences. Therefore, we should do our best to minimize the damage. It is only possible with your support. Hence, Dr. Tsertsvadze, once again please accept our tremendous gratitude addressed to you and your entire team. We are confident that we will give a decent response to this challenge on the grounds of your high-caliber professionalism. On behalf of every member of the government and the entire cabinet, I wish to thank you enormously" said the Prime Minister of Georgia to Tengiz Tsertsvadze, Director of Infectious Disease Hospital and his medical staff.

Director of Infectious Disease Hospital thanked the Head of Government of Georgia for visiting the healthcare facility and stressed the most significant role of the Prime Minister and his direct leadership of the government in the effectiveness of measures against a further spread of COVID-19 in the country. In his opinion, Prime Minister has raised the planning and implementation of response measures to a completely different level and results are obvious - Georgia positions itself better compared to many other countries of superb healthcare systems on the background of a global crisis led by COVID-19.

Tengiz Tsertsvadze noted that decision made by the Head of Government of Georgia on allocating 4 leading state-owned hospitals of the country - Republican Hospital, University Clinic, Gori Hospital and Bochorishvili Clinic - for purposes of fight against COVID-19, along with an introduction of a Common Clinical Management System being very timely and appropriate.

Head of Government of Georgia personally viewed an Administrative Building of the Infectious Diseases, Pathologies and AIDS Center. It still has inadequate conditions and water is leaking. According to the clarifications given by the Director, poor state of the building has been conditioned by the sale of land and assets to a private company in 2009 under the rule of previous government. Tengiz Tsertsvadze thanked the Prime Minister of Georgia for committing to solve the problems related to the physical infrastructure of the Infectious Disease Hospital in the nearest future.
