Giorgi Gakharia, Prime Minister of Georgia will be presented with a nation-wide list of healthcare facilities that will operate in a coordinated manner with Ministry of Health of Georgia under the Common Clinical Management Scheme if and when required. Respective instruction have been given by the Head of Government of Georgia to Ekaterine Tikaradze, Minister of Refugees from Occupied Territories of Georgia, Labor, Health and Social Security of Georgia at a meeting held by the Prime Minister of Georgia with managers of state-owned healthcare facilities today.
Meeting was attended by Amiran Gamkrelidze, Head of National Center of Disease Control (NCDC) and Paata Imnadze, Deputy Head of NCDC.
As noted by the Head of Government of Georgia at the meeting, today most important of all is the preparedness of the healthcare system for a potential increase of patients and common goal is to decide together with industry representatives on how to distribute the patients by regions.
Prime Minister of Georgia instructed the NCDC to submit a list of private healthcare facilities with a geographic breakdown on Monday to make sure that the system is prepared ahead of the potential increase of patients testing positive for COVID-19 and in full coordination with MOH.
"I had a meeting with the private sector. They will be prepared for making available the right amount of hospital beds and healthcare items if and when required so that we succeed in providing maximum care to our citizens. My goal today is to decide together with you all the logistics by regions and distribution of patients. Today MOH and NCDC are instructed to submit a concrete list of geographically distributed healthcare facilities by Monday, including the private sector to ensure a comprehensive service delivery under the common effort and in full coordination with MOH" noted the Prime Minister of Georgia.
According to the Head of Government of Georgia, it is also essential to have a certain group of professional, high-caliber medical staff be readily available to provide consultations at distance to healthcare facilities in regions to make sure that flow of patients is managed if and when required.
"Briefly speaking, your task is to have the healthcare system fully prepared to admit patients in regions and in the pre-defined volumes. Medical staff of the right profile should be ready to deliver consultations at distance to regional hospitals. System should also manage the flow and most important of all - right number of medical staff should be readily available" concluded the Prime Minister of Georgia.
