Prime Minister, Cabinet’s Economic Team, and Banking Sector Discuss Economic Stimulus Plan Print Version

The Prime Minister of Georgia, together with the Cabinet's economic team, and National Bank and banking sector representatives, discussed the economic stimulus plan seeking to minimize a possible negative impact of the global pandemic on Georgia's economy.

Held at the Government Administration, the working meeting focused on joint coordinated measures to be taken by the Government, the National Bank, and the banking sector in order to mitigate the negative impact of the coronavirus outbreak on the economy. An agreement has already been reached to take fiscal stimulus steps, and to take adopt tax cuts for the most vulnerable sectors.

The parties also agreed that both the state and the private sector will make maximally effective use of available tools to minimize a possible negative impact on business.

The banking sector expressed readiness to maintain coordinated cooperation.

Concrete directions of the consolidated economic stimulus plan will be revealed in the nearest future.

The meeting's participants included Ministers representing the Georgian Government's economic team, President of the National Bank, Business Ombudsman, and representatives of the banking sector.
