Giorgi Gakharia, Prime Minister of Georgia held an ad-hoc meeting of the coordination group members on the immediate recovery of jeopardized water supply in ski resorts of the country today.

Reasons leading to the problems of water supply and steps taken by relevant public institutions from the very first minutes of the issue have been discussed at a meeting with the Head of Government of Georgia.

It was noted at the work-group meeting that water is supplied with delays only to RedCo Complex in Gudauri, while about 10% is supplied to Bakuriani. Work is intensively pursued round the clock to address the issue.

As officials of respective public institutions explain, problem originated from mostly dry climate with no rainfall, as a result of which water resources have been reduced sharply. Also due to the insufficient water resources, artificial snowfall system failed to be put in motion.

According to the information provided by the coordination group, as a result of the action plan implemented under the instructions of the Prime Minister of Georgia at ski resorts of the country, problem of traffic jams has been significantly corrected. The same applies to the road infrastructure, as the construction of the by-pass road has been completed, along with the circular road rehabilitation and additional parking lots created on site.

Upon the end of the meeting officials of the respective public institutions left again for Bakuriani and Gudauri to continue work in a coordinated manner to minimize the potential faults.
