Giorgi Gakharia
Prime Minister of Georgia

Your Excellency, Mr. Prime Minister,

It is very exciting to hold my first visit to Armenia in this new capacity.

We primarily focused on the centuries-old friendly relations between our two countries, and on our function and role in further deepening this friendship and making it more effective.

Of course, economy is one of the most important dimensions, and we have good results, with the trade between us developing further. We also discussed the importance of transport and energy cooperation. We spoke about culture and pointed out that it is our positive duty to preserve cultural heritage in the territories of both countries.

We also discussed regional issues and agreed that peace is key, and that we, focusing on economy, must provide our citizens with greater opportunities for prosperity.

We agreed that territorial integrity, which is of critical importance to us, is supported by Armenia, for which we grateful. The recent positive changes we enjoy in international platforms in terms of mutual support must be cemented and intensified further.

I am thankful to my colleague for warm hospitality, and I am confident that today's meeting will be yet another step toward deeper cooperation between our two countries.

Nikol Pashinyan

Prime Minister of Armenia

Your Excellency, Mr. Prime Minister,

Ladies and gentlemen,

I once again welcome the Prime Minister of Georgia and the delegation under his leadership.
Mr. Prime Minister,

Welcome to Armenia! I avail myself of this opportunity to reiterate my congratulations to you on taking office as Prime Minister of Georgia.

Undoubtedly, the Georgians have noticed that, since my election to the office of Prime Minister of the republic of Armenia, Armenia-Georgia friendly relations have been characterized by exceptional warmth, active and sincere contacts, and straightforward and trust-based dialogue on disquieting issues. All that is indicative of the great value attached by Armenia to relations with Georgia. Unsurprisingly, then, my first visit in the rank of Prime Minister was held to Georgia. The dynamic of our contacts, the level of our relations, and your visit testify to the fact that Georgia ascribes special importance to relations with Armenia. Our today's negotiations have been significant and effective to reaffirm the high level of our relations and our mutual commitment to fostering further development in this direction. My colleague and I discussed a wide range of issues on our bilateral agenda, which is broad and comprehensive enough to transcend the boundaries of just one meeting. We commended the resumption of the work of the Armenia-Georgia Intergovernmental Commission after a long pause, and we hope that, through joint effort, every agreement in the protocols of the commission's 10th meeting will be fulfilled shortly. Importantly, the Armenia-Georgia Business Forum was held within the framework of the commission to pave the way for the trade and economic relations between our countries. Especially important to us is the implementation of transport and energy projects in order to develop bilateral economic relations and ensure regional sustainability.

We also share views on the issue of deepening bilateral humanitarian ties. We emphasized the importance of protecting each other's cultural heritage, and we commended every effort invested in this direction so far.

Ensuring reginal peace and safe environment is among the important foreign policy issues. I am convinced that, in this regard, the relations between Armenia and Georgia must develop without interference from external factors. We must promote and support each other in every area. In this context, we discussed regional conflicts. We are unanimous in that these conflicts must be resolved peacefully, in line with the principles of international law, and we must support each other in peaceful conflict-regulation.

Dear Prime Minister,

I am confident that your visit will promote deeper multifaceted cooperation between Armenia and Georgia, and we, though joint effort, will keep the current positive dynamic.
