Government Considers Plan for Phase 2 in Full Rehabilitation of Gudiashvili Square Print Version

After the full rehabilitation of Gudiashvili Square, Tbilisi will boast yet another important tourist attraction, and will offer a comfortable space to every citizen, Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia stated during today's Government meeting.

The plan for phase 2 of the full rehabilitation of Gudiashvili Square was presented by Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze at today's Government meeting.

Under the project for the rehabilitation of Gudiashvili Square and its adjacent streets, buildings at 26 different addresses will be fully restored, including 22 monuments of immovable cultural heritage. Rehabilitation work is carried out in line with a proper restoration methodology, and it engages representatives of the professional community and specialists from relevant fields.

Rehabilitation work also includes landscaping and furbishing Gudiashvili Square and Garden, restoring the road surface, and building a museum/exhibition space within the rehabilitated area.

The Tbilisi Development Fund, under the New Tiflis Project, will implement phase 2 of the rehabilitation of Gudiashvili Square and its adjacent streets in 2019-2020. The project value is 25 million GEL.
