PRIME MINISTER OF GEORGIA INAUGURATES WATER POLO CHAMPIONSHIP OF EUROPE UNDER 17 Print Version

"Along with Tbilisi, swimming pools of Olympic parameters will soon be opened in Zugdidi, Kutaisi and Batumi. I am confident that we will regain the glory once held by the Georgian nation in water polo" stated Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia in his key-note speech delivered at the official launch of the Water Polo Championship of Europe today.

Head of Government of Georgia inaugurated the European Championship and congratulated victory to the Georgian national team aged under 17 in the first game held with Romanian peers.

"I am delighted that more and more international tournaments are held in Georgia. I admire water polo - a most charming type pf sport. We have great traditions in water polo. There was a certain gap in the past, but I am delighted that such a great generation is coming ahead. It is our duty to further develop the essential infrastructure. We see future stars of the world water polo in these young people" added the Prime Minister of Georgia.

Apart from the water poloists, Head of Government of Georgia congratulated successful game to Georgian boxers, who won 7 Gold Medals. In the opinion of the Prime Minister of Georgia it is a phenomenal achievement.

Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Georgia received gratitude from the Prime Minister of Georgia for organizing the wide-scale international tournament at a high level, while special words of appreciation went to the sports federations.

Olympic Swimming Pool of Tbilisi will host the Water Polo Championship of Europe Under 17 through August 18, 2019. Sixteen strongest teams are engaged in the tournament from Europe.
