Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia congratulated US people with the Independence Day and noted that this day is special for every nation, who cherish freedom, independence and rule of law.

"Over centuries of our long history, freedom has always been the main value for the Georgian nation. Our ancestors fought for it and nowadays our freedom is manifested in the building of a strong and democratic country" noted the Prime Minister of Georgia.

Head of Government of Georgia expressed his gratitude to the USA for standing by Georgia at most difficult times since regaining its independence and added that people of Georgia will never forget this.

"Our heroic servicemen fight shoulder by shoulder against the greatest enemy of the 21st century - international terrorism. We celebrated 10th Anniversary of our strategic partnership in D.C. this year. These were 10 years of greatest success - time when Georgia and USA were advancing in their relations and making partnership more productive and strategic" added the Prime Minister of Georgia.

Head of Government of Georgia focused on the Joint Declaration related to 10th Anniversary of US-Georgia strategic partnership, which includes aspects and priorities that will serve as a basis of greater strategic partnership in the coming years.

"I am confident that these priorities will advance our relations to a qualitatively new level and will further boost our strategic partnership. Our international aspiration is to lead Georgia to the ultimate membership of the North Atlantic Treaty Alliance (NATO) and European Union (EU). We have full support of the USA in this. At the same time, we are focused on the development of bilateral relations in the areas of security and economy. During my recent visit to the USA, great prospects of economic cooperation between the USA and Georgia were once again cristalised at meetings with businesses. We crave to see more US investments in Georgia and more US companies using Georgia as a platform for producing and manufacturing more in our region" added the Prime Minister of Georgia.

Head of Government of Georgia particularly stressed the significant support of the USA in the education sector and expressed gratitude to the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).

According to the Prime Minister of Georgia, education is a national idea and the continued successful cooperation with the USA in this area has a tremendous importance.

"In addition, we need to conceptualize that values that unite freedom-loving nations are challenged by a lot of issues. Hence, it has never before been so essential to consolidate and be united in making efforts towards decisive and brave initiatives. Georgia stand ready for this!" noted the Prime Minister of Georgia.

Reception held at the US Embassy to mark the Independence Day was hosted by Elizabeth Rood, US Charge d'affaires (CDO). Salome Zourabichvili, President of Georgia and Archil Talakvadze, Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia also congratulated the nation and gathered audience with the Independence Day.
