IMF APPROVES OF REFORMS IMPLEMENTED BY GOVERNMENT OF GEORGIA Print Version

International Monetary Fund (IMF) approves of the reforms implemented by the Government of Georgia (GOG). It was noted at the wrap-up meeting of Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia and IMF Mission today.

Parties reviewed the economic performance of the countory, budget execution results for 2019, current and planned economic reforms implemented in the country, including those of education system and human capital development.

IMF Mission has positively assessed the economic performance of the country and noted that economic growth indicator is projected by the IMF within 4.6%, which is the highest indicator in the region.

Meeting held at the Government Administration was attended by Mercedes Vera-Martin, IMF Mission Chief; Francois Painchaud, IMF Resident Representative in Georgia and Selim Cakir, who will officially resume his duties as a new IMF Resident Representative in June this year. Meeting participants from the Georgian side included Ivane Matchavariani, Minister of Finance of Georgia; Koba Gvenetadze, Governor of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG); Ekaterine Mikabadze, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia and Papuna Lezhava, NBG Board Member.

IMF Mission is visiting Georgia with a staff level assignment for the IV Review of the Extended Financing Facility (EFF) led by Mercedes Vera-Martin.
