Fund has been established in line with a decision made by the Government of Georgia to finance projects targeting the Georgian diaspora worldwide. It was announced by Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia at a regular press briefing held prior to the Executive Government Meeting today. Initiative originated from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.

According to the Head of Government of Georgia, this initiative will enable the diaspora to carry out its ideas, thus making their activities further more diverse and facilitate the deepened links and relations between Georgia and expatriates living overseas.

"Relationship with the diaspora is a priority of our team in power. Moreover, let me say that it is in fact our obligation in line with the new edition of the Constitution of Georgia. We try to ensure a greater engagement of our expatriates living overseas in the development of our country, maintenance of national identity, positive imaging and positioning of Georgia worldwide. This is the purpose of establishing a mechanism for financing projects targeted at the diaspora. It has been designed by taking into account our national interests and is being piloted" noted the Prime Minister of Georgia.

Applications for funding will be admitted from citizens from May 14 through June 14, 2019.

Prime Minister of Georgia is convinced that this project will be successful and funding allocated towards this end will be substantially augmented in future.
