We are committed to transforming Tbilisi into a European type of capital matching all standards, Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze stated in his speech at today's presentation of Tbilisi's new municipal buses.

Streamlining public transport, the Head of Government emphasized, is a constituent and top priority under the Government's declared green policy.

"90 European-category buses meeting the highest standards have been procured, and 200 will be added by the end of this year to enable us to replace fully the old transport fleet of Tbilisi. We have allocated additional resources to the Tbilisi Municipality to continue this program next year when we will have new electric buses. Public transport is one of the most important issues to Tbilisi's residents. Today, we have started taking far-reaching steps toward solving this problem once and for all. I know that we are facing issues in other directions as well, like Tbilisi's subway system, for one. We will increase the budget of the Tbilisi Municipality to replenish the subway rolling stock. I promise you that Tbilisi will be a genuinely European city, and we will make sure of that," Mamuka Bakhtadze emphasized.

The Prime Minister thanked Kakha Kaladze and his team for the rapid implementation of this project.

The new 10-meter MAN municipal buses were presented by the Tbilisi Mayor.

This year, Tbilisi's transport fleet has acquired 90 new buses using Euro 6 emission standard fuel. The buses' seating capacity is 82, and they are all adapted to people with disabilities. The buses boast modern-standard integrated entertainment, conditioning, and ventilation systems tailored to suit Tbilisi's climate. The transport is equipped with PA and vandal-proof surveillance systems, also USB chargers, and stop announcement systems. In 8 months, the capital will also acquire 220 8-meter Isuzu buses.
