Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia held a business lunch with George Kent, Deputy Assistant Secretary in the European and Eurasian Bureau at the US Department of State. High-ranking official is visiting Tbilisi within the scope of a Democracy Work Group Meeting of the USA-Georgia Strategic Partnership Charter.

Focus at the business lunch was made on the strategic partnership and relationship between USA and Georgia, which is currently at all times high level.

Readiness was expressed towards intensification of bilateral economic cooperation, within the context of which Head of Government of Georgia and US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State discussed the prospects of enforcing a free trade regime between USA and Georgia. Focus at the business lunch was made on the reforms implemented in Georgia and progress achieved towards consolidation of democracy. Prime Minister of Georgia expressed his gratitude to the US dignitary for the support received in strengthening the democratic institutions of the country.

High level of cooperation in the areas of sovereign defense and security which is witnessed between the strategic partners was underlined during the discussion. Also, development of events in the region and challenges towards security were reviewed. Prime Minister of Georgia elaborated on the role of the Black Sea region in ensuring the overall Euro-Atlantic security. Focus at the meeting was also made on the progress achieved by Georgia towards European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
