Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia met Pedro Serrano, Deputy Secretary General of Common Security and Defense Policy (CSDP) and Crisis Response at the European External Action Service (EEAS) in Tbilisi today.

Discussions were related to the cooperation of Georgia and EU in the defense and security areas.

Significant role of Georgia in the international peacekeeping missions was underlined and noted that Georgia is a reliable ally in the global security context.

Focus was made on the Black Sea security issues. Prime Minister of Georgia stressed the significance of Black Sea security in ensuring the common Euro-Atlantic security.

Discussions were related to the joint projects of EU and NATO, which aim to solidify the defense elements of the EU and strengthen the role of Georgia towards this end.

Current state of affairs within the occupied territories of Georgia has been reviewed, along with a peace initiative of the Government branded as a Step Towards Better Future, as it aims to improve humanitarian and socio-economic condition of people living at the occupied territories.
