Development of political and economic relations between Georgia and Japan, along with a deepened cooperation in various directions were the key topics discussed by Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia and Ichiro Aisawa, Member of the House of Representatives of Japan and Chairman of the Japan-Georgia Parliamentary Friendship Group.

Focus was made on the implementation of joint projects in the field of education and on sharing the Japanese experience towards this end.

It was also noted that visit of the Prime Minister of Georgia to Japan, along with a Joint Business Forum to be held in Tokyo this week will facilitate the intensified trade and economic relations between the two countries, along with the current potential of tourism.

Keen interest was demonstrated towards Georgian wine. Significance of the exhibition titled as Georgia - Homeland of Wine was underlined in this context to boost the increased awareness of Japanese consumers towards the history and culture of winemaking in Georgia.

Yasutoshi Nishimura, Masahiro Koshmura and Hiroshi Hase, Members of the House of Representatives of Japan and of the Japan-Georgia Parliamentary Friendship Group attended the meeting from the side of the hosts, while Members of the Parliament of Georgia and Japan-Georgia Friendship Group: Gela Samkharauli, Gocha Enukidze and David Songhulashvili attended the meeting from the Georgian side.
