"It is a fact that National Bank of Georgia is a completely independent institution staffed with high-caliber professionals. It has demonstrated through its performance that it always acts with very high integrity and norms of ethic" stated Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia at a press briefing held today.

According to the Head of Government of Georgia, utterly ungrounded and populistic statements were heard towards the National Bank of Georgia (NBG) recently.

"National Bank of Georgia is a completely independent institution staffed with high caliber professionals. It is not only my assessment. It is what we hear from International Financial Institutions (IFIs). It is in essence one of the main arguments for reaching such great success and an increase of the investment rating of Georgia after so many years. It is a fact and all the rest is sadly political speculations" added the Prime Minister of Georgia.

According to the Head of Government of Georgia, smooth operation of the banking regulator is vividly seen by all.

"As a regular citizen of the country, I wish to thank the NBG for the very high professional conduct. It has taken a decision in the prism of banking supervision, which is grounded on strong arguments. I also wish to once again comment on it and express my positive opinion about a joint statement of the NBG and TBC Bank. It is very important. TBC Bank is one of the main financial institutions of the country, which is vital not only for our financial sector, but for the national economy and thus it was very sad for me to hear that completely irresponsible political forces are trying to channel this topic through a negligent political information space. It is an attempt to convey information to general public in an ugly manner. Wrong focus is made and moreover, it is an attempt to link it even with Anaklia Port Project" concluded the Prime Minister of Georgia.
