Today, Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze honored the memory of Georgia's National Hero Zhiuli Shartava.

The Head of Government, in the company of the Cabinet members, visited the Vake Pantheon where he laid a wreath at Zhiuli Shartava's grave and attended the memorial service for his repose.

Georgia's National Hero Zhiuli Shartava would turn 75 today. The Chair of the Council of Ministers of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia and the Chair of the Defense Council, who personally led the defense operations of the Government Building on September 27, 1993, Zhiuli Shartava was captured by separatist armed groups and executed together with his comrades in arms.
