Government of Georgia – Appearance 2019

VAT REFUNDS BECOMING AUTOMATIC FROM JANUARY 2019 Print Version

2019-02-01

"Value Added Tax (VAT) refunds will become automatic from the reporting period of January 2019" noted Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia at a Press Briefing held prior to the Executive Government Meeting today.

According to the Head of Government of Georgia, it is an evidence that businesses have full trust in the state, while working capital at the disposal of the private sector will be increased further.

"Tax refunds reached 527 MLN GEL last year. VAT refunds from the State Budget were one of the weakest points in the relations between the State and businesses. What is most important, we achieved such a great success last year. This process will become fully automatic. Working capital and its funding is one of the weakest points in our economy and similar to the last year we will continue to be oriented towards refunding more VAT to our entrepreneurs from the State Budget" concluded the Prime Minister of Georgia.
