Today's Government meeting was held under the chairmanship of Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili at the Administration of the Government.
The Cabinet discussed 42 issues on its meeting agenda.
The Government approved the Action Plan for Organizing Events to Celebrate May 26, Georgia's Independence Day, which encompasses activities during the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Independence Day and the declaration of the First Republic.
The Cabinet also approved the Draft Law on Amendments to the Criminal Code of Georgia, which introduces stricter punishment for several offenses stipulated by the Criminal Code, such as cover-up, failure to report a crime, refusal to testify, and perjury.
On the Government's decision, 254 more refugee families will receive free residences to own in Batumi, Kobuleti, Poti, Abasha, Senaki, Borjomi, Rustavi, and Vaziani. Since October 2012, more than 17,000 refugee families have received residences to own, and this process continues.
The Government also approved the draft decree on the allocation of sums from the assignations intended for the Fund for the Development of Mountainous Settlements. Of the 20,000,000 GEL allocated to the Fund for the Development of Mountainous Settlements, 10,000,000 GEL will be used to finance important projects, including infrastructural projects, in Georgia's mountainous areas. 3,000,000 GEL will be allocated for the Plant the Future program of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture, to plant bacciferous cultivars, and 7,000,000 GEL under the program for rational use of state-owned hayfields and pastures, which will prove very beneficial for the population of the mountainous areas.
The Cabinet also approved the decree instructing the Emergency Management Service to procure 19 fire engines, special high-traffic ability vehicles to be used by units responsible for initial response to wildfires in mountainous terrain forests.
