Prime Minister Wishes American Chamber of Commerce a Happy Anniversary Print Version

As Georgia Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze stated in his address to the audience at today's event celebrating the 20th anniversary of the American Chamber of Commerce, in 1991, the US was one of the first nations to recognize the independence of Georgia. Ever since, the American people are on our side in overcoming the challenges that we are experiencing on this path of independence and Georgia's integration into the European family and NATO.

The Head of Government emphasized the role of the American Chamber of Commerce in the successful development of bilateral relations, also expressing hope in 2019 as a breakthrough in terms of an FTA with the United States.

"Our partnership and friendship is tested in combats. Our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan are fighting against the biggest challenge that humankind has, against international terrorism. But, of course, people-to-people relationships are the main, and the component of business-to-business interaction in people-to-people relationships is one of the key successes that we have in our bilateral relationship. Of course, AmCham has always been the main driving force in this accomplishment. My friends, you are already 20 years old! Congratulations! This means that we are starting a new chapter in our friendship. I do hope that this new chapter with a free trade agreement between the US and Georgia. I am very optimistic that 2019 will be a breakthrough in this respect," the Prime Minister said and thanked the American Chamber of Commerce for being Georgia's loyal friend.

Mamuka Bakhtadze was hosted by President Michael Cowgill of the American Chamber of Commerce. The festive reception was attended by representatives of the Georgian Government, the diplomatic corps, and international and nongovernmental organizations.
