As Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze stated at the briefing before today's Government meeting, Georgia's human rights success story has been ranked among the world's top 13 countries.

According to the Head of State, it is especially rewarding that Georgia, in the area of respect for human rights, is on the list of the top13 successful countries in the world where strong systems for protecting human rights have developed and taken root.

"This reaffirms the EU's positive assessment and support of the Georgian Government's successfully implemented and ongoing human rights reforms. Especially noteworthy is the progress in the penitentiary system. As you know, we inherited the direst legacy in this area. Notably, Georgia is the only country in the region to be on this list," Mamuka Bakhtadze emphasized.
