As Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze stated at the event celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Tbilisi Theological Academy, education and science must be the driving force of both the social and economic life of our nation. The event was held at the Patriarchate of Georgia.
The Head of Government congratulated the event's guests on the academy's anniversary and singled out the merit of the Catholicos-Patriarch of All-Georgia on the school's establishment and further development.
According to the Prime Minister, historically, it was the Georgian Church that has ensured the establishment of healthy relations between spiritual life and education.
"It is a great honor to be celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Tbilisi Theological Seminary with you. 30 years ago, on the initiative of our Patriarch, the foundation was laid for another significant institution, one of state importance, I would say, and the worthy successor of our Gelati and Ikalto Academies. Thorough our history, the Georgian Church has been the main center for our nation's spiritual upbringing and education. Looking at our country's centuries-old history, we see clearly that the Georgian Church has ensured the establishment of healthy relations between spiritual life and education," the Prime Minister stated, also emphasizing the development of the education sector as the Georgian Government's top priority to be sustained by the far-reaching upcoming reforms in this sector.
