Development of cooperation in the areas of defense and security, intensified bilateral economic links between USA and Georgia were among the key topics discussed by Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia and Michael R. Pompeo, US Secretary of State today.

Focus was made on the prospects of progressing to a higher level of trade and economic cooperation between the USA and Georgia.

Discussions were also related to all the main directions of the bilateral relations, challenges faced by Georgia and current situation in the occupied territories of the country.

Head of the Government of Georgia expressed his gratitude to the US Secretary of State for the solid support towards territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country.

Parties also reviewed the current situation in the region, along with the regional role of Georgia. Meeting was held at the Harry S. Truman Building - State Department HQ in Washington D.C. It was attended by David Zalkaliani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and H.E. David Bakradze, Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary of Georgia to the USA.
