Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia met a delegation from US Congress today, led by Devin Nunes, Chaiman of the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence at the House of Representatives.

Head of the Government of Georgia stressed the strategic partnership of the two countries and expressed his gratitude to the congressmen for supporting the initiatives related to Georgia at the US Congress.

Parties discussed the current situation and reviewed 10 years since the Russian-Georgian war and Ceasefire Agreement, along with the situation within the occupied territories of Georgia.

Focus was made on the cooperation in defense and security. US Congressmen reiterated the most considerable contribution of Georgian soldiers in the international peacekeeping missions and thanked the hosts for this endeavor.

Meeting was also related to the deepening of US-Georgian cooperation in the sector of economy, including the prospects of concluding a Free Trade Agreement (FTA). Discussion was inter alia focused on the current situation in the region.

Meeting was attended by Rick Crowford, US Congressman; ELizabeth Rood, US Charge d'affaires at the Embassy to Georgia; Deputy Prime Ministers of Georgia - Giorgi Gakharia and Maya Tskitishvili, along with Levan Davitashvili, Minister of Agriculture of Georgia.
