"New legal reality has emerged since the recent Ruling of the Constitutional Court of Georgia on the consumption of cannabis, which calls for an adequate response of the executive authority of the country with due responsibility" stated Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia at the press briefing today.

Head of the Government of Georgia believes that mitigation of harm caused by drug addiction is one of the key tasks of vital importance to the state and society of Georgia.

"Respectively, Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia will be instructed to coordinate the execution of effective steps to be made by the Government of Georgia, so that any and all public wealth - health of our citizens and especially our youth, along with the security and public order - get fully protected. In addition, line ministries represented in the Inter-Agency Council for Fight Against Drug Addiction established at the Ministry of Justice of Georgia, including the active engagement of the Parliament of Georgia shall develop and submit for approval a set of effective programs for the prevention of drug penetration, promotion of healthy life style, medical treatment and rehabilitation of individuals suffering of acute disease of drug addiction" concluded the Prime Minister of Georgia.
