"Peace should not be threatened by anything in our country! Peace has no alternative" announced Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia at the briefing held prior to the Executive Government Meeting today while referring to the topic of 10th anniversary of Russian-Georgian war back in 2008.

Head of the Government of Georgia noted that Russian Federation executed yet another aggression towards Georgia 10 years ago and it was the most tragic spell in the recent history of Georgia.

"Russian aggression, occupation of our territories, human losses, tens of thousands of refugees and internally displaced people are open wounds for every single citizen of Georgia. These were the most tragic days, which once again demonstrated the road, which we have embarked very strongly and it is indeed full of challenges. However, these days have shown that we will by all means achieve the goal commonly aimed and aspired by our country and our nation.

Our response to this aggression, this challenge, is peace and building of a strong state, development of public institutions of European quality and philosophy and of course the return of Georgia to its family - European civilization" stated the Prime Minister of Georgia.

Head of the Government of Georgia spoke about his meeting with families that have lost their sons, brothers, sisters, parents and friends in the war. He noted that attitude is common for all - peace has no alternative. "Peace will result in such Georgia, which is and will remain to be the only proposal with no alternatives to our citizens, who currently live in the occupied territories of the country - we should build a strong, united state together. We should make steps towards better future. We launched the implementation of several significant programs and we will complete them with ultimate success by all means" noted the Prime Minister of Georgia.

Head of the Government of Georgia referred to the visit of Foreign Ministers of Poland, Lietuva, Latvia and Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine. They participated in the Round Table Meeting with a symbolic name - For Peace and Security - marking the 10th anniversary of Russian-Georgian war.

"Our friendly nations and international institutions once again made clear statements in support of our country and values that we share and serve. I wish to once again express my enormous gratitude to our friendly nations for the solid support and assistance that they demonstrated again during these days. In addition, we have heard statements on wishes to restore international relations. We have heard many other types of statements. Our response to this is simple - Ceasefire Agreement was concluded in 2008. Respectively, I wish to once again call on Russia to adhere to its assumed commitments and withdraw its military forces from the Georgian territory. It will be the most appropriate message for streamlining our relations" concluded the Prime Minister of Georgia.
