On April 13, 2017, a Government meeting chaired by Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvilli was held at the Administration of the Government. The Cabinet of Ministers discussed 25 issues on the agenda.
On the Cabinet's decision, 227 IDP families will receive residences free of charge. Since October 2012, the Government has allocated residential spaces to own to 14,162 IDP families, and this process continues.
To encourage return and reintegration of Georgian citizens residing abroad, the Ministry of Refugees and Accommodation has been implementing a grant program since 2015. This year 590,00 GEL has been allocated for this direction to be distributed as grants among NGOs. Today's Government meeting approved grant agreements with five NGOs. Since 2015, a total of 1.5 million GEL has been allocated from state funds to support returnee migrants' reintegration.
The Cabinet of Ministers approved the 2017-2020 Communications Strategy for Georgia's EU and NATO Membership, which has been developed at the initiative of the Office of the State Minister and with the active engagement of civil society. The strategy aims to provide Georgia's population with objective and exhaustive information on the reforms implemented toward EU and NATO integration, and to increase support for Georgia's accession from NATO and EU member states. The document defines, at both local and international levels, the Government's communications policy on accession to NATO and the EU.
The Jakvinji Castle, a monument of cultural heritage in the village of Jikhashkari, Zugidi Municipality, has been granted a status of a monument of national importance. The Jakvinji Castle is a prominent example of Georgian defense and secular architecture, which incorporates architectural traditions from different eras and boasts many distinguished engineering findings. Given its special historical and cultural merits, on March 17, 2017, it was declared a monument of cultural heritage, having been granted a status of a monument of national importance on the decision of the Georgian Government on April 13, 2017.
