On April 6, 2017, a Government meeting chaired by Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili was held at the Government Administration building. The Cabinet discussed 29 issues on the agenda.

The Cabinet of Ministers approved the draft decree of the Georgian Government on Authorizing Giorgi Gakharia to Sign the Joint Agreement on the Preliminary Economic Feasibility Study for the Free Trade Agreement between the Republic of India and Georgia. The Government of Georgia is inaugurating a very important process seeking to reach a free trade agreement with the Republic of India. Should this agreement be signed, Georgian entrepreneurs will be able to land their products in a market of 1.3 billion. Before launching free trade talks between Georgia and India, however, a preliminary study must be conducted to identify potential weak and strong points of the possible free trade agreement. To negotiate the launch of this study with the Indian party, Giorgi Gakharia, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development will travel to Delhi on April 11, to sign a relevant memorandum with India's Minister of Commerce and Industry. According to the memorandum, the study will span 6-8 months.
