Bilateral Georgia-Belarus relations, deeper trade and economic ties, and prospects of joint projects were discussed at the meeting held today at the Administration of the Government between Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Belarus' Deputy Prime Minister Mikhail Rusyi.

The Head of Georgian Government expressed immense gratitude to the Republic of Belarus for its swift response and considerable assistance in the firefighting operations in the Borjomi Gorge.

Special attention was paid to the work of the two countries' intergovernmental economic commission and the need to tap into the existing trade and economic potential.

"It is exciting to see the growing dynamics in the relations between our two countries. I welcome the upcoming days of Belarussian culture in Georgia. I would like to express sincere gratitude to you for your invaluable assistance in firefighting activities in the Borjomi Gorge. Your highly professional crew accomplished its mission at the highest level, and we are extremely thankful for that. I reiterate my respect to President Lukashenko for his personal contribution to the development of our relations. I would also like to send my regards to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus, and I am certainly counting on meeting with him in the foreseeable future, so we may discuss some of the most important issues. On behalf of our Government, I reassure you that our bilateral relations are one of our top priorities, and we welcome the growing dynamics. This year, our trade turnover makes up 100 million USD. We are gradually working toward increasing this number and making full use of the untapped potential," Giorgi Kvirikashvili stated.

The Deputy Prime Minister of the republic of Belarus thanked the Prime Minister of Georgia and the members of the Cabinet for warm hospitality and the exemplarily organized meeting. The esteemed guest also commented on prospects of further developing the two countries' trade and economic ties.

"Georgia is our friend with whom we have always cooperated and will cooperate in the future to better the lives of our citizens. I congratulate our colleagues on assuming office in the renewed, reformed Cabinet. We are especially excited because these positions are now occupied by persons with whom we share years of productive cooperation. They are highly professional individuals, savvy in their respective areas, who will surely benefit greatly the Georgian people. This year's turnover makes up 100 million USD, and our goal to double that digit next year, which is quite feasible, and we are poised to reach it. All this will create new jobs and additional revenues for our citizens," Mikhail Rusyi stated.

After the meeting, the Ministers of Culture of Georgia and the republic of Belarus signed the Agreement on Cultural Cooperation between the Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus.
