Georgian Prime Minister Meets with President of Uzbekistan Print Version

Today, Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili, as part of the 72nd Session of the UN General Assembly in New York, held a meeting with Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The President of Uzbekistan emphasized the years-long friendship between the two nations and singled out the potential for cooperation in the areas of transport and logistics.
The conversation also involved the importance of boosting trade and economic cooperation. The parties discussed prospects of launching direct flights between the two countries.
At the instructions of the President of Uzbekistan, and with a view to spurring cooperation in particular areas, a high-ranking governmental delegation from Uzbekistan will visit Georgia in the near future.
During the conversation, Georgia's transit potential was emphasized, and so was the importance of the Anaklia Deep-Sea Port, the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway, and the East-West Rapid Mainline Projects.
The dialogue also involved the importance of the active participation of Georgia and Uzbekistan in the New Silk Road Project, and the strategic significance of the relations between the two countries was underlined in this context.
The Head of Government invited Uzbekistan's governmental delegation to the Tbilisi Silk Road Forum to be held this coming November.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed prospects of humanitarian and cultural cooperation.
The President of Uzbekistan invited the Prime Minister of Georgia for an official visit to Tashkent.
