Defense and security cooperation were the main issues discussed at today's meeting between Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Senator Tom Cotton, an Armed Services Committee member.
The parties discussed regional security issues and stressed the importance of greater engagement in the fight against terrorism. Senator Tom Cotton emphasized Georgia's contribution to peacemaking missions. The parties highlighted Georgia's role as the regional leader and its importance for ensuring regional and global security.


The parties discussed the situation in Georgia's occupied territories and difficult humanitarian and human rights conditions on the ground. Senator Tom Cotton underlined the strong American support to Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.


During the meeting, the parties also discussed US-Georgia relations and new opportunities for enhancing their strategic partnership.
The meeting at US Senate was attended by Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze, Deputy Foreign Minister Davit Zalkaliani, and Ambassador to the US Davit Bakradze.
