Georgian Prime Minister’s Meeting with King Felipe VI of Spain Print Version

Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili met today with King Felipe VI of Spain.
The discussion involved the International Tourism Fair scheduled to open tomorrow. Attention was paid to the tourism industry as one of the most important socioeconomic sectors. During the meeting, the Prime Minister of Georgia spoke of Georgia's growing tourism potential and stated that, in 2016, some 6.4 million guests visited the country, and the tourism revenues exceeded two billion USD. Giorgi Kvirikashvili invited the King of Spain to attend the upcoming festive events celebrating the anniversary of the restoration of the autocephaly of the Georgian Orthodox Christian Church and honoring the enthronement and birth anniversary of Catholicos-Patriarch of All-Georgia Ilia II.
The meeting at the El Pardo Palace was attended by UNWTO Secretary General TalebRifai.

After the meeting, the inauguration of International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development was held at the royal palace, attended by representatives of the global political and economic communities. In his speech delivered at the event, the UNWTO Secretary General once again spoke of Georgia.
According to him, Georgia is a brand associated with a beautiful country and wonderful people.
